Founders Patti Cazzato and Daniel Kalish are partners in both business and life. Patti’s 20+ year career in retail led her to senior positions at Gap Inc. and Levi’s Strauss & Co., while Dan’s work as a natural health care practitioner has resulted in national recognition from both patients and fellow practitioners. Though their backgrounds are different, Patti and Dan share a passion for creating a sustainable world for future generations and an enlightened idea of beauty, both inside and out.

Clary Sage Organics embodies this meeting of the minds. Our goal is not only to promote the health of our customers but also to establish a new business model that will help sustain our natural environment. By choosing ecologically responsible products and utilizing green building and business practices, we strive to make a positive impact that will benefit all people and our planet.

As one of the most heavily sprayed crops, conventionally grown cotton is a particular concern. More than 13 million acres are harvested every year in the U.S., and each of those acres is sprayed with an average of 13 lbs. of carcinogenic pesticides, herbicides, and defoliants that contaminate our soil, air and water, ultimately ending up permeating our bodies and our childrens bodies.

We have partnered with the Sustainable Cotton Project in support of local California farmers producing organic cotton and strive to offer the highest possible percentage of organic cotton in our apparel. We have taken similar care to source our chemical-free beauty products from small, sustainable suppliers, choosing local producers wherever possible.

We share our customers’ desire to look good, feel good, and do good too, and we believe that our support of chemical- and pesticide-free practices not only makes a significant difference today, but will help ensure that these alternatives are the norm for future generations.
