Digestive Type
Symptoms are the obvious manifestation of an underlying imbalance in your body, but oftentimes symptoms may not directly correspond to the source of what’s causing the problem. Every health issue begins within one of the three body systems: your adrenal, digestive, or detoxification systems. Other body systems become unbalanced when one body system is not functioning normally, and this begins a stress cycle inside your body. Our wellness philosophy addresses the cause of your symptoms — rather than simply treating the symptoms alone — by balancing your three body systems so that the body functions optimally in a state of equilibrium.
“Many people have experienced gastrointestinal discomfort for so long that they have adjusted to it and think that their system’s poor function is normal.” –Doctor Daniel Kalish
The foundation of good health lies in proper digestive function. Assimilation of vitamins, minerals, proteins and essential fatty acids from the foods you eat is required to keep you healthy. If you are not able to digest and absorb nutrients, your overall health will suffer, and any therapeutic program you use will be of limited value. Low stomach acid and low digestive enzymes are common problems due to poor diets and high stress levels. These issues result in the inability to properly break down the foods that you eat, so you are not absorbing all the nutrients you need for healthy body repair and maintenance.
An imbalance in the healthy organisms that inhabit the intestinal tract can be caused by parasitic infections, bacterial overgrowth, or invasive yeast often referred to as candida. Hidden inflammatory conditions can also interfere with digestion. Did you know that the majority of your immune system lies within your intestinal lining? The lining of your gastrointestinal tract is your first line of defense from invading pathogens. If this lining is compromised from years of faulty digestive function, you will be more susceptible invasion from pathogens, parasites, and infections.
Think back: Have you experienced food poisoning? Were you sickened from travel abroad, and you haven’t felt quite right ever since? Food or water borne illnesses may be caused by parasites or pathogens, and even after you recover, the infections can remain and continue to proliferate in your digestive tract, causing systemic inflammation and stressing your immune system. Eventually, this causes imbalance in your other body systems. If digestive problems were the initial cause of your health problems, you are a digestive type.
Problems with the digestive system typically manifest as bloating, indigestion, gas, constipation or diarrhea, or you may have an underlying digestive infection without having obvious symptoms. Many people have experienced gastrointestinal discomfort for so long that they have adjusted to it and think that their system’s poor function is normal. With healthy digestive function, a person will feel energized and revitalized after a meal for several hours and will not experience any cravings.
